Steven Preston, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, today made the following statement on renewal of Trade Promotion Authority:
"It is essential to America's small businesses that Congress renews the President's Trade Promotion Authority so we maintain a healthy economy and empower entrepreneurs to thrive in the global market. A growing portion of domestic small business success comes from moving beyond the U.S. market of 300 million people, to the world market of 6.2 billion people. Well over 200,000 small businesses are already exporting more than $375 billion per year of goods and services. Since 2001, SBA's loans to exporters have increased 500 percent. Free trade opens vast new opportunities for entrepreneurs and is crucial to the nation's economic vitality. SBA strongly supports renewal of TPA."
