Hispanic Small Business Resources


   

There are a variety of small business resources available that have been developed specifically to help Hispanics start and operate small businesses. Hispanic is defined here as anyone living in the United States who has Spanish origins. Following are some resources available for Hispanics who run or want to run a small business.

Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility
HACR strives to ensure that there is an equitable participation of the Hispanic community in Corporate America commensurate with the Hispanic purchasing power.

Latin American Trade Council of Oregon
A non-profit association organized to promote trade between Oregon and Latin America. Latin America includes Mexico, the Carribean, Central and South America and Iberia (Spain and Portugal).

Latin Business Association
Promote the growth of Latino-owned businesses by fostering development opportunities, providing educational workshops, and formulating effective advocacy programs.

Minority Business Development Agency
Part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, specifically created to encourage the creation, growth and expansion of minority-owned businesses in the United States. MBDA provides access to public/private debt and equity financing, market opportunities, and management and business information; coordinates and leverages public and private resources; and, facilitates strategic alliances.

Minority Programs at the Small Business Administration
The SBA strives to reach those sectors of the population currently underserved by its programs, including ethnic populations, women, veterans, and both urban and rural businesses. They have identified resources that offer opportunities and assistance.

National Latino Research Center
Promotes scientific research, training and the exchange of information related to Latino populations in the U.S.

The Rise of Hispanic Business from 1980 to 1994
A discussion of the changes with links to other literature on the topic.

United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Works to strengthen and implement programs that assist the economic development of Hispanic firms.
