We all look forward to holidays and special events. Don't spoil them for your employees by failing to determine the days that you will recognize as holidays and defining how they will be paid for them. If you provide unpaid holidays, make certain that this is clearly explained.
The example below includes floating holidays. Add these supplemental benefits only as your business can afford them.

Small Business Notes Small Business Notes recoginizes the following holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and two floating holidays. When a holiday falls on a weekend, the Friday preceding or Monday following as the observed holiday will be designated as the holidy at the discretion of Small Business Notes. Regular full time employees are paid eight (8) hours for each holiday, regular part time employees are paid for holidays based upon the number of hours they are normally scheduled. Temporary employees are not paid for holidays, unless they are specifically requested to work on the designated holiday (see Overtime). The two (2) floating holidays are available to all full time employees beginning the first of January following the employee's first anniversary. Once eligible, the floating holidays are available annually. Floating holidays must be scheduled with, and approved, by your supervisor at least three (3) weeks in advance of the requested date, and may not be taken consecutively. Floating holidays may not be carried forward to be used in the following year. |
