The Department of Homeland Security presents some of the things you can do to prepare for
the unexpected, such as assembling a supply kit and developing a family communications
plan, for both a natural or man-made emergency.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Leads the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal
response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates
proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National
Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.

DisasterHelp.Gov
Provides information and services relating to all-hazards disaster management:
preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.
HUD Disaster Relief
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides critical housing
and community development resources to aid disaster recovery.
American Red Cross
Focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs. When a disaster
threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health and mental
health services to address basic human needs.
Emergency Preparedness Information Exchange
Worldwide resources for emergency management.
Institute for Business and Home Safety
A nonprofit association that engages in communication, education, engineering and research to
reduce deaths, injuries, property damage, economic losses and human suffering caused by
natural disasters.
